Hi! I’m Melody Joy Cary, creator of Start a Vet Blog and several other blogs, for that matter.

I’ve been passionate about animals for as long as I can remember. I was the horse-crazy girl who wanted to be a farmer, zookeeper, or snake curator when I grew up.

My mom teases that my dream job changed every year, but it always involved animals!

I pursued this passion for animals in college by attending a veterinary technician program. Unfortunately, it didn’t work out for me, but I absolutely loved the experience I got through there and by working in two different veterinary clinics during that time.

After that, I worked primarily with horses and other farm animals at two non-profit organizations, one in my home state of Michigan and the other in Honduras.

Now, I find myself with a husband, three beautiful daughters, and a plethora of pets. For a while, not being able to have many animals or work directly with them was frustrating, especially with a head full of knowledge about them.

So, I launched my own business as a veterinary content writer. I loved working with veterinary clinics and other pet and animal bloggers to create content for their websites, but eventually it was time to move on from that as our family grew bigger and my time grew more limited.

And so, rather than continue to try to do everything for everybody myself, I decided to launch this website and fill it with all the information I learned about blogging along the way. Now, you can find helpful cheat sheets and other downloadable resources in my shop and soon will find all of the information you need to successfully start and run your own veterinary blog in my blog posts here.
